Will be admitted to the course only osteopaths qualified with schools recognized by the CsdO (Supreme Osteopathy Council) associations (AIMM, AMOI, FeSIOs, ROI, UPOI, AISO).
The movement expresses life. Indeed, A.T. Still often stressed this concept, but Leonardo Da Vinci was already convinced of this truth when he stated that the movement is the cause of all the living.
If life manifests itself through the dynamics and kinetics of the living body, we know that it is possible to perceive this expression through palpation. This way, the osteopath can come into contact with the vital forces of the individual. How many ways has the vital movement to express itself?
The existence of a movement permitted and a movement present has been identified starting from the palpatory experience.
After Still’s work, W.G. Sutherland and R. Becker also focused their attention and palpatory experiences on this subject. It was Becker himself who added to the concept of movement that of stillness. According to Becker, it is precisely the presence of movement that implies a point of stillness, the so-called “still point” from which the movement itself can start again. We all know the analogy with the hurricane whose strength is measured by the size of its eye, namely the still point.
Therefore, the osteopath can perceive the movement present and the still point through the palpatory experience, but it is necessary to reconsider how this approach is carried out. It is essential to learn to meditate on the process of observation and recognise in this process the experience of a real creative act. Observation will make it possible to perceive the patient’s vital dynamic by creating the conditions that will bring out his health and prepare him for the healing process.
