STILLNESS – 10th-12th December 2021

Lecturer: Emanuele Botti D.O.

The course that Advanced Osteopathy Institute proposes is the result of this exploration in osteopathy and a little beyond its boundaries, trying to better understand the concept of stillness. We aimed to shorten, as much as possible, the learning process and the time needed to acquire an in-depth perception of the stillness.

Description

The course is aimed exclusively at osteopaths who have completed a course on movement present or biodynamics.

COURSE PRESENTATION

The treatment through movement present involves a deep understanding, from a perceptual and palpatory point of view, of the concepts of the observational fulcrum, movement present, and still point. The simultaneous awareness of these three elements outlines the ideal perceptual framework during treatment.

After spending years trying to refine the training in this area, we can say that the first two concepts, the fulcrum and movement present, are assimilated and used without problems by all the people who have attended this training. Instead, the concept of stillness remains vague or unclear, especially in its practical use during treatment.

That is why we searched for teaching alternatives that would help us transmit this knowledge better and immediately use it in our profession.

We did this through various palpatory experiences and exercises, and now we want to share them with you and teach you how stillness can become the guide of our treatments.

During one of his courses, Dr. Becker’s student said to him: “Doctor, finally, after ten years of practice, I can perfectly perceive and use primary breathing as a therapeutic tool!” Dr. Becker’s answer was: “The therapeutic force is not in the movement but the stillness, the movement is only the result of what is generated by the stillness!”
