COURSE PRESENTATION

The course “A new osteopathic approach to pregnancy and postnatal period” is the outcome of years of experience and practice with pregnant women,  collaborating closely with midwives and gynecologists. Marina Riddi is an osteopath that integrates clinical experience in obstetric osteopathy with theoretical knowledge.  She also trained with internationally recognized teachers travelling abroad to attend their courses.

Working closely with midwives, especially with the midwife Gabriella Fois, the lecturers improved their skills and deepened their knowledge on the subject. This heritage of experience and study is at the core of this course.

The idea of publishing a book on the subject came into view when gathering and organizing the available material. This step has proved to be fundamental not only because of the durability of printed information but also because it undergoes close examination by the reader. So the authors were motivated to seek further scientific validation and overcome the self-referentiality that has often defined the spread of osteopathy on the national territory. Paolo Dellanoce’s work is part of this context as he has put years of study and research related to manipulative work to fair use.
The practice has allowed to highlight the best therapeutic approaches and choose among the various techniques that are part of an osteopath’s professional skills, those most suitable and best tolerated by pregnant women. The course and the book do not propose “treatment protocols” but rather help the osteopath understand the specific problem that affects the woman, discover the origin, and choose the most appropriate approach. Therefore, we speak of “treatment proposals” to emphasize the uniqueness of human beings, experience, and feelings in dealing with a specific moment in life.
