COURSE PRESENTATION

The direct treatment of the organ or the organ’s region is predominant among the visceral approaches proposed in osteopathic teaching. Therefore the osteopath will try to remove the osteopathic dysfunction through direct or indirect manipulations of this region.

However, there are at least two other ways of improving the bowel’s physiology, i.e., enhancing the neurological information that the bowel receives at the neurovegetative level and working on the lymphatic drainage.

We will review and, if possible, deepen our anatomical and physiological knowledge of the autonomic nervous system during the course. In particular, we will deal with the innervation of the abdominal and thoracic viscera. We will apply evaluation tests on the plexuses’ activity and the viscerosomatic links between the organ and the corresponding segment of the spine throughout the practical sessions. Finally, many technical approaches will be proposed for the plexuses and the relationship between the bowel and musculoskeletal system.
