COURSE PRESENTATION

In our opinion, the basic osteopathic training subject is worth considering and delve deeper is the palpation of cranial fluids and the related techniques.

This review course has three main objectives:

– enhance the palpatory skills in order to detect the movement of fluids within the cranial system;

– review the physiology and anatomical organisation of fluids within the cranium and the central nervous system;

– review and clarify doubts about the main technical approaches and clinical presentations such as the compression of the 4th ventricle, lateral fluctuations, compression of the longitudinal axis, and cranial drainage techniques.

In our experience, the real obstacle that arises in this area concerns the insufficient perceptive skills. Therefore the techniques are less effective even when the osteopath is exceptionally competent and knowledgeable about the techniques’ working principles.

We sincerely hope that this short two-day course will help our students overcome this obstacle through specifically designed practical exercises.
